Whats On Your Easel, February 2012

Welcome to What's on Your Easel for the month of February 2012!

If needed, please remember to place the butt icon.

Please post your oil paintings that you are currently working on or have just finished.

Everyone is welcome to post in this thread - Newbies and experts, as long as the work is in oil paint!

For the most part, this is a “show and tell” thread, if you would like more detailed help or critiques, the main oil forum would be the place to post and ask

Meggs, I think something in the foreground would be nice, maybe shrubs of some nature, and I would consider taking out the road. Nice start!

The Taming of the Cue

"The Taming of the Cue"
24''x36'' Oil on canvas

I just finished this painting for my cousin. He just bought a house and he has a pool table so I thought a billiard scene would be appropriate. If you think the unhappy woman is the one who is losing then study the table a little more. You'll be surprised to learn she is winning.

If you would like to learn more about the meaning of this painting (there is some symbology and such) or you would like a copy then visit my website below. My latest blog post goes into detail about this work. I'm gonna post a painting session video on this work on my YouTube channel shortly. Thanks for watching!

Meggs, I'm thinking maybe a small boat in background to give some depth, but a great start.
Ryan, love the fun of this one.
Larubia, Absolutely beautiful, your work amazes me.

Hi meggs
I would add red sails or a red boat or yacht.. What do you reckon?

Re: Whats On Your Easel, February 2012

Here is Emma revised. I finally convinced the client that the big plastic flower next to her head in the photo just had to go. I also added more blue to some of the grass, which due to the camera shot (still waiting on my new camera) looks very blue but actually blends in much more in person and adds a little more color

Mark, your easel is really full...love the landscape especially!

Jules, Emma looks adorable...I hope your client is satisfied now.

Re: Whats On Your Easel, February 2012

Two more I'm starting. The first on is actually taken from a pastel of the clients mother in law. She passed away very young and the family had no true pictures of her and wanted it done in oils. I am waiting for them to find out her actual eye color and hair color because I am going to try and make it a little more realistic. the second is of a clients son "luke"
