Threw something up quickly but it's far from finished. Took me longer transfering it to my laptop from phone than painting! Bluetooth!

Here's my attempt, oil on board 40 cm x 30 cm.
It was very difficult to paint wet in wet and not end up with
a green sky !

Re: Essentials of Paintings Skies - Homework Week 2

Well, here's mine. This was my first watercolor sky. The difficulties with this particular photo is that the sunset had multiple reflected light values and hues, along with some very deep cloud values. I think that I learned from this, however, and would have done things differently - for one, lighter values in the dark clouds. Second, carefully plan where to place my warmer blue skies, and not have the cobalt painted over the first wash of sienna and cobalt orange, as it granulates over the orange, and dulls it into a muddy pale green color. Also, I overworked this and got too "tight". Would have loved more looseness, and more lost and found edges. Let me know what you think! Thanks!

This should be in the critique section.

My first sunset and sky-scape. Finished version (in week 1 it was not finished).

It was hard.

Re: Essentials of Paintings Skies - Homework Week 2

This is no where near completed, but I feel It needs critiqueing I wanted more fluff and swish to the dark left side, and to tone down the sunset area more and not so rectangular, then add a mangrove tree in the lower right. (A Florida look)
