Re: Essentials of Paintings Skies - Homework Week 2

Here is my attempt to interpret a sunset in my native surrounding. Looking very much forward to Saturday´s class. Your demo was great and remember something of it. To paint sky is much more difficult for me than I ever thought.

Re: Essentials of Paintings Skies - Homework Week 2

Thought we had no homework this week. Found we do have one after coming on WC to check new threads and posts. Discovered I painted the 1st photo months ago ; it's among the photos you sold Johannes. So, here it is ; oil on canvas, 11" x 14" :

I hope it is okay to repost this painting since it is a sunset view. Thank you for your critique.

The painting is a bit brighter than what the photo is, for some reason the oranges are subdued in the photo and the blues were enhanced. 11X14 Oil on Canvas. Great course, thank so much Johannes.

Pastel on Pastelmat 10 x 14 inches. Who would have thought painting skies would be so difficult! Thank you Jo for showing us how.

Re: Essentials of Paintings Skies - Homework Week 2

I'm resubmitting the painting from last week which I had been working on before class. I've made some revisions from suggestions you made during the demo. I've cropped the painting for this class to focus more on the sky. The actual painting is 9x12 and has a lot more foreground it it.
