Greetings from Cleveland!

Well, I'm on here because I mentioned in passing to my girlfriend of a thought or two of dabbling in the arts because some family members of mine have shown artistic talent (my grandfather, who turned 95 today, was a professional artist). I always considered having talent in writing, but hey, why not the visual medium too? I mean, I work as a production artist to pay my bills, so I have some ability! At least I have a solid understanding of colors. Long story short, my girlfriend bought me some starter art supplies as a Chanukah present! So, now I really gotta use 'em! I think I just need an easel, ha.

I'm the first to admit, however, I can't draw stick people to save my life. So, already looking way ahead, I only really see myself doing abstract or themes. Obviously, I'm in this to enjoy the flowing of creative juices and take pride in whatever I may inflict upon a canvas.

Wish me luck as I wish you all the same!

Re: Greetings from Cleveland!

Hi and a warm welcome to the Wet Canvas Community

This is a very large site with a lot going on in the forums. Be sure to check out the subject and medium forums as well as some of the special interest forums. There is something here for every artist and all levels of expertise. All are welcome, so don’t be shy about posting or starting threads.

A good place to start your WC! experience is to read some of the articles in the links found in the signature lines of some of the mods and guides - they contain some very useful information which will help you to navigate and participate in WC!

If you have any problems, just drop back here to New Users and we’ll be happy to help.

Have fun and enjoy Wet Canvas!

Hi, and welcome to Wetcanvas. The ability to bring what you envision in your mind's eye to canvas or paper is equally challenging whether realism or abstract, imo.

Whatever your interests, I'd really encourage you to start with drawing to develop your skills! There's lots of fun people in the drawing forum, who will only be to happy to crit your work, and there is even a free drawing lessons in the Classroom. I highly recommend! Nothing like getting a good foundation!
