Re: All Media On-Going Sketching Thread Part 12

Thank you, Rainy. I do like that little dog portrait. He's very lovable with those beady eyes. Great pen work.

Joe, wow, you have a new style with shading!!! Very nice. I really like this piece. It has a great pose, very intense look and you could feel the tension in his body. Nicely done.

I did a few today too.

Based on a people's artist reference book.

Pentalic 70 lb sketchbook 5.5 x 8 inch

First I sketched with pencil. Body inked with Pentel Calligraphy pocket brushpen. Hair with Chinese brush and sumi ink.

This is from landscape challenge of last month but only got around to try it out with fluid acrylic and watercolor combo today. Thanks to Sunface/Maria for photo.

This one is also from the same challenge.

Classic Cachet black sketchbook 5x7 inch

Derwent Colorsoft pencils

This one is a test of Koh I Noor Progresso woodless pencil with Shinhan colorless blender and added Derwent watercolor pencil and wash.

Still the same reference book but poor girl got mutated.

This one is for Southwest challenge. I'm following the style of Ed Mell.

This one has Colorfix black pastel ground on the 5x7 inch page Classic Cachet sketchbook.

Koh I Noor progresso woodless colored pencil

Any textured surface brings the best out of these pencils.

this one is same challenge and same pencils but without the pastel ground.

Added some fantasy elements to it. Surprisingly, I could do sgraffito with a bamboo pen on it easily.

I did two of a Korean actor which I'm watching right now - Song Seung Hun.

It's black ballpen but I turned it reddish in photoshop.

Re: All Media On-Going Sketching Thread Part 12

Great sketches, Sandra.
I haven't seen too many Korean films. Saw one recently about a guy who was stranded on an island in the middle of the city. I don't remember the name of it though.
Joe, I like the baseball player, especially the shading under the bill of his hat.
Rainy, I didn't realize you had a blog. I will have to check it out.

So, I have just been messing around distorting things a bit. This first one is from a photo of one of my nieces, just playing around. A caricature.
The next two were made up. Playing with distortions more.

Hi, all. Here is another one to keep things moving.
Just a quick one. Kinda cliche.

Re: All Media On-Going Sketching Thread Part 12

So I just got off of 9 days in a row of work. I'm tired. On top of this job load I have to do homework for school. Draw a still life and spend 30 hours on it in about 6 days. Yeah, you can guess that I am tired and that I didn't have 30 hours to spend on this. Now that life has calmed down, I may resubmit this piece... But not now, I need to stare off into nothing for a good 4 hours...

Jake and Sandra, nice sketches. Sandra I especially like the fairy one where it looks like it's transforming into something else.

But seriously, I'm going to go stare at a wall for a few hours and watch paint dry... I think that is all I can handle right now haha

Re: All Media On-Going Sketching Thread Part 12

Everyone has done an awesome job as always.

But I am an exception here because I could do only this one in the past one month! That's too bad!

But the good thing is that I have the feeling that I have improved to some extent in using watercolor. So, here's my latest work:

Your comments and critiques are welcome as always!

Tirtha, great landscape!
I am very sorry to hear about your father.
Prem, a great landscape, also.
I just went through a period when I didn't draw much. Something always brings me back to it, though.

Sorry to hear about your father, Tirtha. May God Pashupatinath (or Allah) will help you bear all the pain and sorrow.

Very nice watercolor painting, by the way.

Thanks Jake for your compliments.

Your niece looks good for the halloween day celebration Jake! Good snorting

That woman with fox head looks naughty to me. Great quick job there!

Awesome work Jon with the bottles and ceramics! You have done justice to them all.

That sniper of Sandra is mind-blowing. So much full of emotions and rage! Nice job.

Tirtha, I'm sorry to hear about your loss. Don't be too sad. He'll always stay in your heart. For the first two years, I couldn't even remember what my father looked like after he passed away. Now I remininsce about the things he used to tell us and now I pass them on to my kids.

Very good trees. The crimson spot in the middle drew my attention.

Prem, definitely, you have improved. The colors didn't mix like a puddle like mine. Very nice work.

Jon, wow, that's intense. 9 days of work and 30 hours on this piece. It shows the effort but I can't even imagine myself spending more than 3 hours on a piece. You have great patience. The reflection of the bottle is very good and I like the chalice/candle holder too.

Jake, what a funny bunch of snorting ladies. You have perfected the naked lady's proportions!!!!!

I didn't do much. Still resting my back after I get home from work.

A cow.

A pterodactyl of some sort I doodled at lunch.

First with Kimberly watercolor pencil, then some Sakura watercolor and then some Portfolio watersoluable oil pastels.

Pentel 70 lb 5.5 x 8 inch sketchbook
