Re: Scavenger hunt #247 - 27 Nov to 5 Dec 2011

Ai - Nice sketches. I especially like the duck and the deck of cards. Excellent.

Joan- as always love your wc sketches. I especially like that you capture the textures. Ahh now I see your "sculpture". LOL Only you could make a pencil drawing look like water color. Love the earring. Nice work on Which and sleep mask. That was going to be mu mask as well. First I have to find it.

Lin - Sending you lots of positive energy! Hope you heal quickly.

Ep, Jo, Jacqui - Hi!

Did 2..
#1 Spherical - Small native pot
#2 Coiled - cord for phone

Each was less than 10 min in 5x8.5 sketch book using 4H & HB 2mm clutch pencil

Joe

Lin please take care of yourself and don't push with that arm. Sending you lots of healing thoughts.

Joan love the sculpture, very well done, well worth the wait. The whisk is great for coiled, I was struggling to find something for that. Nice earring.

I have done a few sketches but still to photograph them, will do that today, hopefully.....

Joe we cross posted, nice round pot and good one for coiled.

Hi Ai, Joan, Jacqui, Jo, Lin and Joe.

I've so missed this Forum -( I got caught up in lots of other Forums. ) But I need to get back to drawing from life again so I've printed off the list and hope to get some done. Everyone's sketches look great and I can't wait to begin!

Thanks for the List Lin - it looks really interesting, and I hope you're feeling better soon.

Re: Scavenger hunt #247 - 27 Nov to 5 Dec 2011

Yeah Vivian great to see you here. Can't wait to see your sketches.

Here are a few I did in the last couple of days. I pulled out my fountain pen, I love pen and wash, and so quick and easy. A5 sketchbook.

1. natural - clump of quartz crystal
2. from woods - gumnut
3. from seaside - shells
4. spherical - chinese medicine balls
5. cylinderical - lava lamp
6. drinking vessel

Tristie sleeping on the bed is just a bonus for you as it was on the same page, I couldn't resist drawing him when I saw him. He is so gorgeous!

7. ornament - very small stone dragon, he is only 7cm long and 2.5 cm high in RL

Joe - Thanks! Good job on the coiled cable...you made it look so even...mine are always thin in one spot and fat in another. lol I like the simple design on the native pot.

Jacqui - Thank you. Nice shading with the ink washes. Your crystal has nice hard lines to it. Great box with the medicine balls. Ah...a fire breathing dragon...a new pet? lol

Kivrin - Thanks.
9- natural - watercolors & ink
10 - seasonal - watercolors

11 - flower (silk) - watercolors

12 - drinking vessel - pencil

Re: Scavenger hunt #247 - 27 Nov to 5 Dec 2011

Hi Viv & Kivrin

Jacqui - Nice pen work. I particularly like the shading on the medicine balls, the hatching on the lava lamp....and the cat. The dwindling smoke on dragon is nice touch.

Joan- Once more you captured the texture. I can almost hear the leaf crunch and feel the juicy fullness of the plant leaves, Nice Work on silk flowers and the mug.

I did one today. #3 Seasonal - Santa ornament carved by a friend who passed on last year. I did not capture the carved texture very well. About 10-15 min in Sketch book using 4H and B .7mm mechanical pencil.

Joe

Re: Scavenger hunt #247 - 27 Nov to 5 Dec 2011

Kivrin thanks.

Joan thanks, yes I wish he was a new pet. I picked him up at a craft market about 10-15 yrs ago. He had been put away in a cupboard and I've just found him again. Love the leaves, great how curled up and crunchy the seasonal one looks. Nice flower, beautiful colour.

Joe thanks I appreciate your comments. Yes I just had to add the touch of smoke on the dragon. Very nice ornament, great momento of your friend. I think he looks nicely carved and textured.

Vivien hi. I think your flowers look pretty darn good to me. Love the iris, I have never had luck growing them myself but a neighbour has a nice collection that I keep admiring.

Jeanne love hubby's old car and whistle, so cute. Nice detail on the cross.

Lin I hope you are starting to feel a bit better with less pain. Take care, thinking of you.

Re: Scavenger hunt #247 - 27 Nov to 5 Dec 2011

Oh it's so good to be back!

Jacqui - Thank you. Love your cat! The chinese medicine balls look good - do they work? Excellent job on all your sketches. I think I had one of those Lava Lamps. Great dragon ornament.

Kivrin - Hi there!

Joan - Hi Joan. The "drinking vessel" looks interesting. It looks like a beer handle, Is it a from Munich? Love your watercolor work and the curling leaf.

Jim - Hi Jim. That's a beautiful sketch and a special memory to have from your friend.

Jeanne - Hi Jeanne. I remember the little cast iron cars from my childhood too (I guess that ages me!) They were wonderful, and indestructible. You will treasure the cross that your husband gave you. Thank you for sharing with us.
