Re: Siberian Schizophrenic
I really like your bold, style with the big lively brushstrokes. Your color choices are very good in this and the figure's proportions seems right, although the man's body disappears from the chest down.
I also really like the background. Overall, a good piece.

Re: Siberian Schizophrenic
Fantastic painting. I'm sensitive to the title though since the only difference between me and it is that I'm not Siberian. There's a stigma when you dub a human with their affliction. I'm not writing in a sour tone. Just saying. I do love the painting though. Nice touch of the brush--loose, thick, confident brushstrokes.

Re: Siberian Schizophrenic
Nicely composed painting with the colors being intense and the brushstrokes bold and confident. The scene seems peaceful and he/she (not sure?) looks peaceful and calm with a blue dog at the subjects left hand. As a painting I like it but when I combine the title I start to get lost.
I believe there is little that is nicely composed or confident and orderly about Schizophrenia. Life and normal becomes messy and disorganized and hard, social interactions can be awkward and dysfunctional. In your painting, except for your background, I do not make the Schizophrenic connection let alone the Siberian one.
I know a title is just words but when it is the only thing attached to a painting on display by the artist which I would believe is supposed to give a 'hint' as to what the artists intention was - it becomes a huge part of finding your way around in the painting. I say this because the painting appears to be representational in nature.
I REALLY LOVE the painting, I am just not making the intellectual connection to the title. Good work on the painting, you are showing your skills here illastrat!

Re: Siberian Schizophrenic
This is lush and stippled. I'd let this sit here a while then toss it up in the Portraits subforum, since it would stand there as well. I am guessin that the Siberian Schizophrenic is dissociated from his bleak tundra and has placed himself in the rich tropical forest of this painting. Are there hints of his genuine origin and location here? I guess the pale complexion, which might be difficult for a northern asian person to maintain in such a setting, with such powerful sunlight lighting up everything in vivid primaries. Cool piece!

Re: Siberian Schizophrenic
Thanks! I renamed this; "Sitting Woman and Dog" The last name was contrived and done in a rush.
