Long Time Partners

This is a Transparent Watercolor I did a while back. I don't paint in the western genre too often anymore, but this is one of my all time favorites I have done in any style. Sometimes I wish I hadn't sold it...

It is watercolor on museum board and measures 16 x 30 inches.

Beautifully painted, poetic in concept and professional in application.
I can see why you wish you still had it.

I wish I had bought it! I could look at this painting everyday.

It says so much more than just the content of the subject (which is also wonderful). This is a beautiful work in the way it is painted.

Hi Pat - Nice to see you out west Great painting and a huge departure from your present work. Honestly, I think your current work is exceptional but I prefer this one. ~Don

Wow, Pat! I want this, too! This is amazing, and such a beautiful moment between horse and rider. It has a sense of mystery, as the eyes are all hidden from plain sight. Stunning textures, especially on the chaps. Great work!

Museum board is solid 100% cotton board used for mats in the picture framing industry, but I just love it to paint on. I use white, but it comes in a host of neutral colors as well...and black. I also use it to do my colored pencil work on. It is very nice for both.

The specific board I use for my transparent watercolors is made by Crescent and the number is 1536. It is a "6 ply" board, which is a bit thicker than most museum boards.

I work with very little water on a dry surface, and in lots and LOTS of layers. The surface of this board and its sizing, holds up very well to all my brush manipulation.

If you work in a very wet style with lots of fluid washes, it would NOT be the choice for you.

Re: Long Time Partners

Pat, After looking at this piece a few times, I took a look at your website. All of you work has that special quality of life. It is that quality you can't explain in words or critique in an academic sense but it is the magical quality that draws you to the art and gives you something special.

I hope you will post more of your work here. I won't ask you to post a specific piece, but if I did ask, I think everyone here would enjoy Duck Stop. I just love it.
