Using Storebought Craft Items in New Creations - Copyright Issue?
I have not been on Wetcanvas for a long time. However, I have a question that relates to a project I have to do for my small non-profit association.
We want to create our own scrap book backdrop image to then be photographed and used in a large banner that will be our backdrop display at the trade shows we attend each year.
If I use a few store bought scrapbooking items in the creation, can I then photograph said creation, to be used as a banner in our booth at trade shows. The idea is basically to create our own scrapbook page for camping, using items from nature (ie: wood for the frames around the photos, which we own the rights to already through self shot or purchase), hand created textures and such, as well as a few little camping related scrap book supplies that one would buy to do a personal scrap book. The idea is that we want a home made scrap book theme, a family oriented theme, but want to create and photograph a real home made scrap book page and have that as our banner.
Because we are creating a new piece of artwork, my understanding is that if we use 2-3 store bought scrap book supplies (like a camp fire, logs, etc.) as part of our creation, then it is fine to photograph our new creation and use it in a banner for display ?
If anyone knows where I can find this info, it would be greatly appreciated.
Basically, we don't sell anything at the industry related trade shows, we hand out a yearly published free directory that gives a listing of private campgrounds in Ontario who are members of our association.
Thanks so much; Jocelyn
