pilot

I drew this from a very small blurry picture I took from my phone camera while stationed In Iraq in 2006. I liked the composition and decided draw from it, since the photo was horrible quality I had to add the details from what I thought I was seeing, especially the various components of the air craft that were barely visible in the photo. I'm new to the forum and would love to hear any comments.

Re: pilot

It looks good to me. You must have a great memory for detail if your reference was so blurry. Welcome to Drawing and Sketching!

Welcome to D&S light&shade. You've got a good range of values in this and a nice composition. The only suggestion I can make is to be absolutely certain of ellipses and angles when drawing a machine. You are very close, but the nose cone isn't quite right and the shape of the covering for the instrument panel is slightly out of shape due to the shading. But these things are quite minor and do not interfere with my enjoyment of looking at your work.

You've done a great job on this. I really like your tonal work and the graininess of the paper.

Re: pilot

thank you for the replies! I couldn't agree more with the mechanical errors of the f-16, this is a big problem for me and that is why I almost always avoid drawing cars etc, but I'm studying art in college now and really want to get these type of mistakes cleared up so I don't struggle later on. The pencil got smeared quite a bit since I drew it so that's probably why it looks grainy and messy lol
