SOHO Urban Artist CP

Hi all,

Has anyone tried the new SOHO Urban Artist pencils yet? What are your thoughts? The price is right!

Look here for initial remarks and color charts:

I picked up a set of 72 and haven't really done much with them yet. I do like them and think they are more like my now unobtainium Design Spectracolors than Prismas. Even without the coupon I used to buy them I believe they are well worth the price.

Thanks Tom,

I might just pick up a few and give them a try, once I start experimenting a bit.

Nice and smooth upper middle class pencils although colour saturation could be better. Not bad at all! (Thanks, Linda!)

I'm curious about these. Are they wax based (like the guy in the Jerry's video says) or oil based (people in the Jerry's reviews compare them to Polychromos, which are oil).

Love the price.

I think they are wax based. I have used a few colors that I thought were different. They blend well with prismas. I would buy more.

Jerry's Artorama is the only source I know for these pencils.

I believe these are made by Cretacolor for Jerry's as their own private label brand, much like Blick came out with their own.

That's right - when you take off the cardboard wrap, you'll find a tin with Cretacolor stamp.

It fact they are the same as Cretacolor Karmina, although these come in 36 colours only.

I didn't realize they were one and the same, Heikki. I'm glad i didn't order them to try out. I have 10 brands of Colored Pencils and am happy with every one. Even being the collector I am, I just don't need an 11th!
