Re: SITE PROBLEMS - to all, PLEASE READ
Currently there are long standing reported issued with Structured Critiques and Open Critiques. These have existed since the site was migrated to new servers:
Quote:
Structured Critiques Bug
Since the site migration, all new posts made to Structured Critique forum go into Open Critique. The only way posts can be made into Structured, is if a mod moves the thread when they become aware it is in the wrong place, or if the poster asks them.
I am pretty sure it is a glitch in the form that people fill out to start a thread in the Critique forum. Where you must choose between the three choices, Structured, Open, or Galleria, it seems to be a programming glitch that sends things to Open forum when Structured is chosen. I'm only speculating, but this must be a simple programming html thing. The link is just wrong, I believe.
But, oh what a tizzy it causes!
Irrespective of which forum is chosen on the form, Open or Structured Critiques, the thread is posted in Open Critiques.

Open Critiques Uploader Bug
Every time there is an r and an n in the filename link to the photo file, it breaks the link and rejects it or does not upload. I go in and insert the letters where the break is and it works. For example:
Example Image file 12-06-2008/163713_cornfield__________best_01.jpg.
This is how the file name appears:
MY IMAGE(S):
[IMG]http://www.wetcanvas.com/Critiques/upload_spool/12-06-2008/163713_co
field__________best_01.jpg[/IMG]
Note the r and n in the filename are not in there and there is a break in the file name after the o and before the r.

Unfortunately these problems have not been solved yet.

Re: SITE PROBLEMS - to all, PLEASE READ
I have been away from WC for some time but have come back. I have to log on every time I want to post a reply, and that is all the time. Also the site does not 'remember' my password which I fill in and tick each time.
I used to be able to access threads immediately....has the policy changed?

This is a function of your browser, it is not remembering the wetcanvas cookie. Make sure your settings are in order and clean out all temporary files, your cookie space may be full.

Re: SITE PROBLEMS - to all, PLEASE READ
Hi All
I came back to WC to see if the owners had managed to sort out the many problems with uploading images. Unfortunately not as far as I am concerned I still get the "Ack.." message. However reading back through this thread I see there are plans to have it re-written early next year. Great news! It is such a pity that the site has been allowed to degenerate the way it has. I am sure I am not alone in saying that many members would be prepared to pay a small annual subscription to have a modern well maintained site. But perhaps I am wrong. You get what you pay for!

Sorry you are still having problems Nigel.
It seems some members have the problem but most don't. What browser are you using?

Re: SITE PROBLEMS - to all, PLEASE READ
Doug
I have tried both Chrome and Internet Explorer. I have also
replaced my PC with a new one - Windows 7. But still no joy
I tried different sizes of the photos to see if this might make
a difference. What is irritating is that you only get rejected after
you have typed in all the details. If you try again you have to
retype. Not what I enjoy spending time on. Anyway I know it is
not your fault so forgive my ranting!

The uploader window is a popup Java routine. Check if you have a popup blocker or anti virus program which is preventing the uploader working.

We are having problems with the Critique forums. You may have to post in one of the main forums.

Re: SITE PROBLEMS - to all, PLEASE READ
Hmm it works for me. We have been getting reports of "sever not found" errors when another click brings up the site.
I see all new posts by subscribing to the forum RSS in Google Reader using the link http://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/external.php?type=RSS
That way I can read the first few lines of every new thread on the forum.
You can subscribe to individual forums using
http://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/exte...ss2&forumids=8 where in this case the 8 is the forum number of Site Discussions. Just go to a forum front page and read the forum number at the end of the url and use that instead.
