Re: What's on Your Easel - May 2011

Here's the final version of this painting of my Great Niece, Lauren and Great Nephew, Eli with Georgie Porgie, the cat. I did a photo shoot a few weeks ago and got quite a few good shots of the kids. (there are four of them.) Lauren is the only one who would dress up though. She's the oldest at 7. She was actually suggesting poses for me. "How 'bout if I pretend to sip some tea and have the basket placed here?" LOL. I love her!. The three and five year old did NOT want to dress up and participate so I had to shoot them on the sly.

Kay, that's a gorgeous painting; I love it! When you talk about shooting the younger ones on the sly, I hope you didn't mean with real bullets...

Tanja, are you going to do anything with that white wall behind her? It looks like it needs some shadows, and that sharp-edged rectangle between the feet and the chair could use some softening. Really nice work going here!

Re: What's on Your Easel - May 2011

This is still on my easel. All I can say is that it looks better in person, but when I post the original with my clumsy effort, I see a lot I yet need to work on. It'a a copy of Rembrandt's "Self-Portrait in a Flat Cap." Still wet, too!

Re: What's on Your Easel - May 2011

A great start to May, here with some super paintings!

Tanja, your headless woman is beautifully painted and is a wonderful composition.

Kay, what a delightful grouping, I can tell you enjoyed painting that very much.

Nancy, this is pretty darn good, you should be very pleased with it indeed, you will have got so much instruction from doing this that will inform your work from now on. It will be interesting to see where/how it effects your paintings from here on!

Re: What's on Your Easel - May 2011

I second that ArtyRolina, a great start to the month! Tanja, beautiful form and detail, that dress must've taken some doing. Kay, loose style but such wonderful use of colour! Nancy, amazing! The thing with a copy to me is that you can't put a foot (or brush) wrong without it being glaringly obvious, and you certainly haven't done that here.
