Got it! Thanks!

Re: Supplies while sketching/journaling - version 2

I can't remember if I showed my minimal kit?

I don't like working small but the sketchbook is last year's diary that had such a pretty cover I didn't want to throw it out. I refilled it with a concertina of heavy cartridge paper.

It fits in the pencil case.

But the most minimal kit ever I saw today - do take a look here it's amazing!

Re: Supplies while sketching/journaling - version 2

I simply made a concertina of cartridge paper like in this larger one - paper strips on the back where pieces join to act as hinges (about an inch wide or a bit less) The back or front page simply glues onto the inside cover of the ex-diary.

My bookbinding skills are negligible! so no skill needed.

This one was part of a sketchbook exchange with friends, where we all started one and people added their pages as it travelled round, in whatever paper they wanted, It returned to us with work in it by all the others. (you can see it here on my blog)

Re: Supplies while sketching/journaling - version 2

Okay, I posted this on Saturday, but the message has vanished. I was hoping the tech whiz kids there at WC could make it re-appear, but it looks as if it's gone forever.

So here it is again: The Kid!

I found this kid palette at Plaza Art and remembered reading about in on RozWoundUp, on one of her palette pages.

So I snagged one, took it home and soaked it until the pigment pellets that it came with were soft enough to dig out. I then filled it with some DSmith tube paints and let them "set up" over night. (I put eight colors in. Roz gets eleven by putting three more in the center slot, between the circles, where the microscopic brush originally snapped in.)

Anyway, the following morning I had a new carry-around-every-day watercolor palette to play with! Keen!

The Kid is also available from Wet Paint here. The closed dimensions are about 1-3/4" by 2-1/2".

The pix at bottom shows The Kid with my other two travel/sketch palettes.

Me either! I saw that pic of her's where they are shown sitting next to a quarter. But somehow that never "registered". That's why I thought we needed one showing The Kid actually in my hand.

I am hoping it's as useful as it is (no question!) cute. We'll see!

Hi all! I recently got some India ink to experiment with and could not find an answer on Google for my simple question. I know you are big ink users here so... What do you use to clean hands, brushes, pen nibs- soap & water or solvents? THANKS in advance!

Re: Supplies while sketching/journaling - version 2

I used India ink long time ago and as far as I remember, i rinse brushes and nibs really good with water as soon as they aren't being used. India ink when dried is a pain to clean off especially brushes. As far as skin that the ink made contact with, I would try soap and water but usually the ink does not completely come off and whatever remains would disappear in a few days.

Re: Supplies while sketching/journaling - version 2

Wow, what a teeny little paintbox! What really brings it home for me, even more than the picture of it in your hand, is the lineup with the other two sets, presumably small traveling sets themselves. I fell in love with the Yarka colors and lug it around with me sometimes, but the tiny one does look convenient. I have a little one, Winsor & Newton I think, maybe I'll try it again, if I can figure out where I put it...
