Plant Parade April 2011

Floral or Plant Displays in Containers

Flowers for the home don't have to be located outside. Displays delight the artist's eye for any room, season, or occasion, indoors or out. Classic or contemporary, you may combine color, texture, and form for your design. Here are many of my photo refs for your perusal, or set up your own IN A CONTAINER. From a wild flower bouquet in a plain jar to a single rose in a bud vase, use what you have to make flowers or plants sing. Visit a florist or garden center with your camera! Or simply make yours up or combine refs. We
want to see a real Plant Parade for April, from anemones to zinnias, and do show part of all of its container.

Rules of the game are the same, that is paint, draw, scratch or whatever, in any medium, on any support!

Reveal date is on the 25th of this month! Please don't post before that or it will be removed! We can discuss in this thread what is going on, our progress/strategies with the painting but don't post any photos please

Greenhouse Geraniums

Studio Orchids in Pot

Petunias in Whiskey Barrel

Anemones in Kerr Jar

Hollyhocks in Blue Pitcher

Daisy and Chrysanthemums in Nursery Pots

Mixed Tulips in Urn

Impatiens Baskets

Stay tuned, more to follow

Thanks Kay for a great idea -"plants in containers". Sounds good to me and I will try to get one painted this month.

Re: Sticky: Plant Parade April

Thanks Kay it is a vibrant assortment, very nice. I've picked my 2 and this time will crop I think, see if I can get dramatic in my composition. I received some lovely blue irises for my birthday too so if I get a chance I'll have a go at them too.

Hi Kay, wonderful array of color and flowers, thanks for hosting this month.
Not sure I'm going to be participating this time round but I think this is a great idea. Will be watching.

Hugs,
Elaine

Re: Sticky: Plant Parade April

I am floored by all the beautiful springtime flowers and will plan to paint something from your references. We show on the 25th? Do I have that right?

Re: Sticky: Plant Parade April

Hope you all find something! Originally planned to feature flowering cactus but that idea was nabbed, too, oh well, so had to brainstorm to come up with a different theme. It is a short month as well. Yes, Nita, post only on the 25th or thereafter.

Re: Plant Parade April 2011

Oh, Kay, how nice. I have a photo I have been saving to paint that suits this occasion perfectly. I found it on Flikr or someplace like that and wrote the person and got his permission to paint it. He said yes, and to send him a photo when it was done. April is finally the time to do it.

Looking forward to the parade!!!! Now if only the sun would come out in Buffalo!
