Talking Macaroons, all stacked up - Blue Icing #2 - Figs

Can you tell I am on a diet? Humm....

"Macaroons, all stacked up."
5 x 7" on Ampersand Aquabord, DS watercolors

I don't have much comparison to make about aquabord vs paper because I am new to watercolors and do not have too much experience with painting on paper. I do NOT like painting on paper because I cannot blend my edges like I can with aquabord. Also, if I make a mistake, I cannot 'erase' like I can with this surface. Aquabord is very forgiving. I love the texture as well. The colors just POP on it. When I first tried paper, I swore I would never do watercolors again. When my friend gave me some aquabord last year, I gave it a try and it was literally love at first brush stroke. One warning with it, though: If you overwork it, you will remove paint when you don't want to, so care must be taken.

Figs

These kinda look all wonky, but they are actually like that in real life. Not very symmetrical. I am not sure about this one, but will show it anyway. Gotta show the good with the bad, right? Not all of them will be prize winners! ;-)

"Blue Icing #2"

I liked the first cupcake so much, decided to do another, not sure if I like it as much, tho... it is really hard to paint swirly swishy icing.

same specs as the first...

Re: "Blue Icing #2"

You did a great job on the "swirly, swishy icing and the paper cup holder. Lots of darks to give depth and contrast. These are good studies, lots of learning here.

Re: Macaroons, all stacked up...

Wow, this is terrific! I never worked on aquaboard, but I have worked with DS paints and I love them for their vibrant colors.
