Wow, great thread thread. Some interesting responses, and a lot of great ideas.
Of course, you could always approach anyone wearing silver, but another alternative might be
www.OneModelPlace.com - I have found the majority of my models through OMP and it's a fantastic resource regardless of where you live. You may want to take a peek. Click the top right button - TALENT SEARCH - enter your criteria and go from there.
I'm an OMP member and it's proven to be a very worthwhile investment. ( My OMP page can be viewed at
http://member.onemodelplace.com/phot...cfm?P_ID=47757 ). While the site is designed for models, other members (like photographers and artists) can post examples of their art so models can get an idea of what you're about before working with you. Anyway, OMP has over 115,000 models listed worldwide, in all shapes, sizes, and colors. You should be able to find someone there who'll work with you.
Not all models work money. Some will work TFP (time for prints). You should have no problem finding models there if they know you're a serious artist.
A huge OMP advantage is that many of these models are looking for experience and portfolio images. You can offer both. Some express a desire to even work TFP - others may cut you some slack because it's art as opposed to commercial work.
Still... the silver jewelry theory fascinates me. Could it be true? I'm going to put that one to the test... soon.
