Thank you johanes your guidelines are being burned into my brain. I was telling someone i was in an office today. There was a painting coarse of the aspens and pines perhaps local. You guessed it, full of pointed pines triangles , round aspens and no melodic like LOL.

Re: Upload your skyline drawing exercise

Well, here goes. I must have sat with this for 45 minutes, refining it and looking at both the negative and positive shapes. It was very revealing to see how hard it is to switch back and forth. Being from New York, I think the Manhattan skyline definitely influenced my design. I might have gotten carried away, the more I corrected, the more it influenced something else that then needed correction. I'm dizzy!

Wow this one mustve been complicated but the only way you could've solved it is by paying attention to the negative spaces. Look like I came up with a good exercise huh?

Yes, I really was looking at the negative spaces practically the whole time. Like I said, every time I adjusted one thing, something else got skewed, so by the time I was done, it literally looked like Manhattan, and it got 'complicated'. It was a good exercise though, I've always liked painting using negative space, so this for me was fun. I enjoyed the exercise, and sort of got lost in the process. My brain hurt afterwards though!

Here you go - my abstract skyline. Good thing I am not an architect. Loving our classes Johannes and can't wait to start composing better paintings.

Right if you reverse the image from any point of view you would have different spaces. The positive spaces become the negative spaces and when you flip it again the negative spaces become the positive spaces.
