Ebay Spies

Unfortunately,
I believe there are people who read this forum that report these petty infractions. Very quickly after my discussion here about the E-Painting, I was reported. I had had the Epainting link on my listings for over a year before the discussion. I spoke to the Ebay people about the fact that the EP was a free service and that it was not a selling link. They were very nice but I still had to relegate it to my about me page. It's too bad that people feel they have to meddle in other's work.
Love,
linda

I'm so sorry that happened to you, Linda. All you can do is roll with the punches. I've been turned in so many times now that I'm afraid my auction template eventually will end up saying. "EDEN ART" and that's it!

It's even possible that someone at eBay is paid to check through all this kind of forums. Not likely, but possible.

There are definitely spies that read this forum.
Not just this forum but also the General Critique"

About 2 years ago I offered some insight into what I do on EBAY and shared some advise on how to's.
I also at the time had a link to my web site in my profile.

Up till that time I was listing on EBAy without problem. I had a link to my web site wasn't aware it was against the rules. Almost everybody had the links so I did not see anything wrong with it.

About a day later I was contacted by EBAy to remove the link. I contacted them and asked why I and not all the others that do the same.

They told me that another seller reported me. I figured out who it was, someone from the WC forum who also sells on EBAY and has a chip on her shoulder about me.I think it has something to do with me being a foreigner or so, I have a bio on my site that tells my story. Hard to tell but she wrote me some ugly e-mail's well.

I since try to stay away from discussing anything too much.
I know I am still being stalked... that is what I call it.

It's a shame that some people just have such hate in them
Reminds me of the spies in Nazi Germany that reported their neighbors for not saying "Heil Hitler" then they were picked up.

I personally despise the system that EBAY uses to have others report violators, that is how they keep track. They don't actively search for violators and they don't apply equal rules to everybody. I also buy on EBAY in other categories and notice that many larger sellers pretty much do anything they want. If you get a notice from EBAY you can be certain someone from the same category Art/Paintings reported you. Jealous, petty people.

I can't really say because I didn't start on ebay until after I was on this list anyway. With my first listing (or maybe second?) I got the email asking me to remove the links to Elfwood and WC. It never occured to me at the time that someone turned me in, I just assumed that ebay checked these things.

You see breaks of policy all the time. Maybe ebay should make things clearer?

Yep, there is definitely someone perusing this board and playing "Ebay cop"... the recent epidemic of reported auction "violations" seems too coincidental to dismiss as anything else.

I've been selling on Ebay for about 8 months without a problem. I posted here on Wetcanvas for the first time about a week ago, and yesterday, lo and behold, one of my auctions was shut down.

I'm sorry to hear that it's been happening to other people too, especially as a result of posting on a board where most everyone who posts is extremely helpful and considerate.

With so much ugliness in the world, why do people have to add to it? I attribute it to envy, and I am coming to believe that envy is one of the most poisonous emotions of all.

Kathy, I was wondering about this the other day. Because to me, that would be the only motivation that would make sense, other than the person doing the reporting is just a malicious sadist.

My EBay ID and my WC! ID are completely different and I do not reference my EBay link here at all for just this reason.

Still, I cannot imagine why someone would do this unless they are just bitter and awful. I have certainly met enough of those to work hard to avoid them now!

The snitches are most likely very self-righteous folk, who may or may not be malicious.

As much as we might like to think we know one another in our e-groups, we really don't know one another as well as we know our friends in real life.

Some folk most likely find alot of fault with what I just stated.

Well, it is sad but true, IMHO.

I don't think what I just stated applies to people that we know in egroups and have email correspondences and pm exchanges with on a regular basis.

I have really digressed here.

I have come to know some extremely fine people here at WC!

Thaneeya... I am sorry to hear about your experience and I can totally relate.

Same happened to me and I know who it was almost 2 years ago. Someone from WC but not posting here.

I try to stay low for that very reason.
There are lurkers, people that never post here but spy on us.

It's an ugly thought but one I all to well know about.

People like that are Nazis to me.
Sorry a** holes with nothing but petty hate in their hearts.

Nevertheless I gave it much thought and decided to not let it affect me in a negative way. Except for a few explicits every now and then.

I pursue my art, my marketing and figure,
"Success Is The Best Revenge"
I won't let low lives like hat drag me down

Cheer Up !

I think regardless what their motives are, they are malicious. I guarantee you they are NOT people that are doing well themselves. They are driven by jealousy.

I don't blame you for feeling like you do. I feel the same way. I had left WC officially before,
because of problems for being stalked. I came back because the nice people are the ones I missed and asked me to come back, so I rejoined.

I meet mostly nice folks here, but I still don't participate as much and I don't share my success stories, because I know that may trigger another jealous rage by "The Stalker"

Hi Ginette,
Thanks for your responses. I too have realized not to let it affect me in a negative way. It made me realize that whoever's doing it must have a really empty life that they have to go around tattling on others for such minor things, whatever their motivations may be (whether it be self-righteousness, maliciousness, or jealousy).

At first I was really mad when I found out my auction was cancelled, then I came here and found Linda's post about "Ebay Spies". It was just too much of a coincidence, it was so weird. Although it was upsetting to learn there's a psycho on the loose, it also made me feel better to read everyone's notes of support to each other about this. Guess most of us will go through this sort of thing at some point.

I also agree that "success is the best revenge"!

Sorry to hear you have a stalker. I'm glad that there are nice people at Wetcanvas who made it worth your while to come back.
