CreatureFeature-Feb2011

So I thought I'd go back to more known creature for this month...the centaur (I blame Kerry and her current wip ) I seem to have them on the brain. Though I was thinking you don't have to base them on just horses, could go for some of their relatives such as unicorns/pegsus/zebra/or deer.
yes I know the equines and humanoids can be difficult to draw (for some of us) but makes a good challenge hehe, so do not be shy about using references.

Wiki intro:
In Greek mythology, the centaurs are a composite race of creatures, part human and part horse. In early Attic and Boeotian vase-paintings, they are depicted with the hindquarters of a horse attached to them(so they'd have a pair of human legs at the front); in later renderings centaurs are given the torso of a human joined at the waist to the horse's withers, where the horse's neck would be.

As usual all media, styles welcome just no posting until the 15th thank you.

ok here is my centaur, I drew it several months ago but I'm still really happy with it, it was also the very first centaur I ever drew. C&C is welcome.

She is cool, she looks adolescent and innocent. Very fluffy and feminine. The little earrings and fancy sleeves on her dress or blouse are particularly cute, she's very fashion conscious. The fairy she's talking to is well drawn too. Lyrical, pretty scene overall.

Re: CreatureFeature-Feb2011

WEll I think this is as far as I will get with this. She's more of a concept but I had to get it on paper. A Kirin-taur? The chinese unicorn crossed with a centaur, thought it would make an interesting choice. Not sure if I happy with all her proportions. She also has scales up her back and scatter over arms. Her top is made of leaves sewn together and has a flower at the center of it.

Close up of the head for no apparent reason XD

Re: CreatureFeature-Feb2011

So here is my "entry". LOL...

This centaur woman is actually dancing her way to her wedding. Centaurs dye their body white for their wedding, and wear deep red to represent the deep commitment they make to each other, showing they become one blood. Just a simple drawing... I hope you enjoy!
