Re: sketch of the day
Thank you so much
I do think we should go our own way and not be to influenced by others.but thats not to say we cant try other ways ,.try being a little loose say,, I think of it as being a little bit mad .I dont have prefference for any particular way of painting .but when I let myself go.,and dont think of what a piece of paper costs and quickly bang it on,.it blows away the cobwebs of my mind .

Re: sketch of the day
thank you all, today I decided to do a pen and wash ,I did the pen work first then the painting starting at the bottom half leaving the sky and water till last ,it was ok to go over the black acrylic ink,I had the idea of taking the dropper out the bottle of ink and making a weaker solution in another pot, I had noticed
some well known artists of the past they seem to use different strenghts of ink in places,, like on pantiles roofs ect ,you could weaken say burnt sienna to outline this way.I think Mr Wesson and Mr Watson often outlined
with a pen ,, with a stronger solution of watercolour brushed on its tip
I painted the sky and water last/,thank you

Re: sketch of the day
Just an ordinary old type knib pen, I found a tin of old knibs in the bottom draw .
,they work perfectly ,.the darks in the last sketch were a mix of vandyke brown ,ultramaine, and added cad red to keep to the red tones through the sketch.
any of my ideas are yours to use please do ask ..alan

Re: sketch of the day
PS/the knibs I have are not to sharp// if you find some knibs pick out the rounded ends
if you cant , use a fountain pen .
