Re: sketch of the day

Hi Alan

What a lovey sky again, and the reflections in the water are great. As usual I am so happy to look at your lovely scenes, it makes my day. I hope you feel better soon

Ricky

Re: sketch of the day

I was a bit lost for a subject this morning so I made this one up again it is different ,because I used a pot of black liquitex acrylic,, dropping it into my watercolour and to mix in my trees in places,to se what effects I could get,
and to see how it would help to glaze over washes .it is not a thing I usualy do and is a one off , but I have been trying liquitex carbon black for pen and wash and I am quite pleased with it ,if any one uses this way of painting I would love to hear from you what results you get and how you use it
I also used a rulling pen in places look close and you can see ,

Too much acrylic and it becomes Mixed Media Alan.

Re: sketch of the day

Beautiful Alan.

I am experimenting, using black Noodlers ink with water and painting in watercolour style with it. It is so much fun, and lots of values can be achieved..

Doug, Acrylic Ink isn't the same as Acrylic Paint.. :-)) (as far as I know)

Re: sketch of the day

Whatever JJ, it's the amount of non watercolour that eventually makes it mixed media.

canal scene
I used acrylic liquitex carbon black to out line,,, instead of black ink I find I can over glaze in places and it is waterproof when dry ,I find I like better than black ink for pen and wash ,,

Re: sketch of the day

Hi Alan

I like both of your paintings, especially liked the one with the Liquitex I think I might have to go and get some today and have a go!

Glad you are able to paint again, migraine is a nasty thing!

Re: sketch of the day

actually Ricky .I was stuck at the time for a waterproof ink to do a pen and ink I had difficulty finding a waterproof one,, the Noodlers is available here but it is a U,S make .jacksons sell one (sepia)(am I right)I know amazon uk sell Noodlers but it seems postage is from U.S any way I found the liquitex acrylic carbon black ink ,,more to my liking .it is not a spirit ink ,,and will mix very nice with watercolour ,in fact I could imagine a clear version would be ideal added to your water and would make them more easy to glaze .I dont do that .but it could be interesting for artists who like to be adventurouse in their painting
