I just wanted to say

I'm really enjoying this forum. It's amazing to see how people can take ordinary objects and transcend their ordinariness to make them into something beautiful!

Re: I just wanted to say

That's very kind of you Roxy! I have a question for you....and all our members.... what the most ordinary object you've seen turned into art?

Yes, that's the one!

I also like it when people put together two unrelated items, and the synergy creates a meaning.

Very nice post Roxy. I was just telling a friend recently what a talented group of great people are on this forum.

Re: I just wanted to say

I am viewing various forums that I haven't been to (or only once) to see where my stuff might be appropriate... And to just enjoy your work. This forum is wonderful. To take anything in creation and elevate it to a finished artwork, how great. The most ordinary things I think of right now are J.D. Hillberry's realistic works with odd things combined, or messages taped to boards or walls. Or his torn up and taped together portraits arranged to qualify as a still life/portrait. If you aren't familiar google his website, o my goodness, what a guy!

I really need to hang out on the still life forum more often. "found objects" are so much fun, you can do anything with them, and still life is one of the best ways to develop your art skills.

Re: I just wanted to say

Just stumbled upon the Still Life forum recently, and I agree that it seems to be a fine place. I plan to post a small alkyd painting here soon.
