Re: The Portrait Group 2011.
Very nice capture of intimate inner essences - expressively rendered.
You're much quicker off the starting blocks and into a productive new year than I, Dave. I've done very little so far.
Thanks for posting these (inspirational) pieces

Re: The Portrait Group 2011.
Hi Jeanne, EP, Rainy and Ron. Thanks for looking in and commenting, sitting for portraits is much tougher than it looks, Eugene was very stiff when he got up
More next week, Dave

Re: The Portrait Group 2011.
Great stuff! I also enjoy a weekly portrait group and it is wonderful to have a model every week to try our hands at. I posted some of mine at the Art Journal forum, because I know the folks there, haha. This would be a good forum, glad I found it. Keep up you good work!

Re: The Portrait Group 2011.
Thanks for looking in Candace, just had a look at your portrait journal. Some lovely work , your group sounds just like ours with local people doing the modelling. It would be great if you started a thread over here in artwork from life as the forum doesn’t get much use, I usually post in the figure forum as I know them well
 Dave
PS it’s half term at the moment so the group is not meeting this week.

Re: The Portrait Group 2011.
Thanks Dave for your kind praise of my thread! I see by the rules of this forum no touch-ups allowed, so I may avail myself of it when I sort out or create some new things, before any tampering with the evidence! Thanks for the suggestion/invitation! "From life" is a great & fun challenge. For faces I don't do so well from flat photos; if I had a photo reference large enough to see the details I would just frame the photo! Ha!

Re: The Portrait Group 2011.
Yes you’re right Candace, I find working from photos very difficult, it’s hard enough from life At the moment I tend not to fiddle once the pose is over. Mostly because my understanding of anatomy is not that good and I tend to make things worse, rather than improve them.
So here is today’s effort, once again the model was Helen who wore the same dress by request.
She really is an excellent model. Dave
