Question shadows

shadows for skintones. it doesn't matter what i do, my shadows look like dirt on a person's face. what gives. any tips on skintones and shadows? had a book from library on skintones, need to get it again i guess.

Hi Elizabeth .... I think the colour of the shadows would be dependant on the colours that you have already used in the skin tones themselves ..... and also would pick up their surroundings.... light and clothing etc ..again perhaps would dependant of your own style too....... Jackie Simmonds.... has posted in the Pastel forum a sticky they may help you greatly with this ..... as a generalisation it may be difficult to help ..... but perhaps surf and you can pick up a great deal from just looking at other peoples works and within the mediums they use ...and how they have applied things......

or perhaps if you post a specific picture that you are having probs with Im sure there will be many here to help you with it
