Deranged Cat on Howlite
I've been doing a bunch of these, but this is the first one I did scratch seriously. A friend gave me a a box full of this along with some quills and I've been experimenting. I used pigments (come in a little jar) and then scratched to bring undercoats back up. This one is three inches at it's widest point. The picture was from the RIL, I just loved the look and the eye color and wanted to see if I could bring that out. It's not where I want it to be, but I sandpapered it off twice, tried scratching to fix, and this was my last try for this particular piece before I threw it out the window.

Thanks Howard, I'm only showing the ones here that I do serious scratching. I've got more on my blog. Next...agate slabs.

LOL...if you're going to throw it out the window anyway aim it my way! I think it's great and so small!

Re: Deranged Cat on Howlite
How could you throw that out the window Karen. It's gorgeous. Love the technique. So different. Amazing that you can capture that on such a small piece. Well done. Love to see more soon.

Re: Deranged Cat on Howlite
Very interesting innovation. I have seen painting done on small round smooth stones.
