Re: NEW WORK: Organic Expressions

I like the pots. They look earthy and like they could be from a long time ago. As for the first photos, I'm not much of a fan of the shape. I do like the smoked firing colors and the textures which are great.

Saje- The shape, not the artwork, as if it's not good, just the shape and it was my honest opinion and not meant to offend.

Re: NEW WORK: Organic Expressions

Are they raku? Some of the colors on them make me think perhaps they are (the shiny patches). The pots are nice. I'm not excited by the bottle shaped ones or the ones in the first picture. The colors are "organic" - I know some people like that (not a fan of brown myself - I like bright, cheerful colors or light, spring-like colors - but my hubby is a huge fan of brown and might like this a lot, who knows?).

Hubby just passed by and I asked his opinion. After looking at the top photos a while, he said they remind him of Monument Valley, where Wile E. Coyote and Roadrunner live ) and I have to agree, the colors and shapes both contribute to that "'eroded" or "weathered" look you see there. What I saw as bottles in the last photo, my hubby said made him think of Native Americans or people in robes, with a bit of long dark hair coming out of the head covering on the one on the right. It's always interesting to get his take on things - he sees things so differently than I do, but his opinion is as valid as any.

How long have you been sculpting? These look like beginning kind of pieces, or perhaps experiments in a different medium or style. Tell us more about your process. Thanks for sharing!

Saje - I didn't see SD's comment and I see she's removed it, so I don't know exactly what was said (nor do I want to), but honestly, we're all adults here. I can't imagine her ever saying anything truly offensive. She's a kind, generous person and would never intentionally say something offensive or even confrontational. She does have a right to express herself, just as you do. If you have a complaint about something someone posts, please private message them about it rather than hijacking someone's thread to discuss it. This thread is about this collection of pots and sculptures. Let's keep it that way. Thanks.
