Debby's 12 days on a budget (Dec 2010 challenge)

Ok, I started this so I guess I'd better participate. I have an idea and hope I can pull it off. This is also the start of the sketchbook I made for myself.

I'm debating if I should add more words such as "What? You can't afford the whole tree?"

I used a yellow water color pencil to put a base color on the pear. After that, it was just colored pencils.

Paper: 140lbs Aquerello Portofino hot press water color paper
Pencils: Prismacolor water color pencil, Prismacolor colored pencils, Colorsoft colored pencils.

Great start...and I like your sense of humor.....

I like the paper edges....did you create that or is that just your paper?

Thank you Rainy.

Thanks Ed. Had to have a sense of humor being the daughter of a clown. The paper edges were created by tearing the pages when I created the sketchbook. See here. for how I did that. I folded the paper then tore it with a bone folder.

Great start. Nice shine on the pear. I like how the shadow goes accross both pages

I love the pear and how the shadow crosses over the center, just a very cool theme! Don't add the punch line- let us figure them out, very, very clever.

Nice pear, Debby! And yes, the calligraphy is great...another form of art that I admire but feel too clumsy to try.

Haha, love it! (But where is the partridge? Still nestled in the peartree? *G*)

Re: Debby's 12 days on a budget (Dec 2010 challenge)

Thanks everyone for your nice comments.

WYSIWYG, the partridge, like the pear tree didn't make it.

The next installment.

Realized after I shot the photo that I didn't date the entry. I'm working on remembering that.

Same sketchbook. Used micron pens and, of course, my poor calligraphy pen (which is having problems with the texture and absorbency of the water color paper. )
