Sketching group etc

I have a long list of things that I want to get done soon, preferably this year - this book is one small item on the list. Please indulge me while I try to finish during December.

Mont Marte sketching journal, A5 landscape. This is a cheap hardcover book - at first I didn't like the paper, but as I go it is growing on me, with a nice tooth / texture. Mainly using pen, water soluble graphite pencils, charcoal, wcs and wc pencils, black and white prismacolor. About 17 sheets / 35 pages to go.

I have been using the book mainly when I get out with a local sketching group, every week or two, but will need to make some special trips as well I think. Most of the time we sketch at local beaches.
Here are some of today's efforts....windy and overcast, hard to get settled.

I may post a few older pages as well during the month, let me know if there are too many!

cheers

Maybe I am too used to seeing my stuff, glad you see more.

Debby - I have fun doing them too.

EP - almost missed your post - I called that sketch a failure at first (Inktense pencils), it all got a bit blah, but after the page dried I added some pen which fixed it up a bit I think. I'll have to go back on a sunny day and try that one again, it is a nice view.

Cheers

Wonderful pen work Chris. You're lucky to have a group to go sketching with.

Re: Sketching group etc

Thanks David. I find the group is good to encourage me to get out more.

Here are a couple of older ones until the weather improves....from my favourite sketching haunt, the local swamp. Water soluble graphite pencils.

Cheers

Re: Sketching group etc

The pen and pencil strokes are very gestural and "active". Looks like the sketching group is a winner for inspiration!

I really enjoy your sketching style. The touches of color here really complement the pen and pencil work as well. Very nice!

Re: Sketching group etc

Here is one from last Saturday evening, and a couple of older ones - trying for themed posts!

My wife and I often go to the local beach for fish and chips, and while waiting I have been doing quick sketches. I usually have around 5 minutes or so.

This is Saturday's one...a block of units and shops down the street...watersoluble graphite pencil

Here is a similar one from October, charcoal??? and watercolour added later..

And the fish shop, from August, watersoluble graphite again...

Cheers

Great stuff Chris! I like the way you are doing different versions of the same subject, and a novel way to while away the time waiting for the fish and chips!
