Kodiak Bears X-Post to Animal and Wildlife Subjects

Heya,

A few months ago I tried to go my way with acrylics.
You've to know - I HATE brushes... maybe because of the primary and secondary school and the water color. Now I decided to face my hates and I think I was successful for the first time.

We paint for a North America Project in my own Art-forum and therefore I painted these codiacbears with an alaskan landscape.

This scene takes place in the golf of alaska on the island Codiac.
I took the codiac bears, because grizzlies are so famous but there are even other beautiful bears .

“Spawning banquet”
Codiac bears| Alaska
Acrylics on Canvas
60 x 80 cm

Ca. 55h workingtime

I hope you like it.
Please be lenient with the landscape, because it's my first landscape ever and I think the rocks are a little bit confusing, but there was no reference for this one

Greetings Vany

That's a great painting! Love the bears! I don't think the rocks are confusing at all. I really like the way you did the rocks.

Beautiful painting but Codiac is actually spelled Kodiak.

Re: Codiac Bears X-Post to Animal and Wildlife Subjects

Thank you very much

@ fiddlinjohn: thanks, I thought, they looked a bit deformed... but thanks I'm glad you like the rocks

@ddel: I changed the composition a few times with the help of a good friend.

@ dances_with_oils: aaah thanks then it's the same as in German I thought it would be spelled with a C thanks and also for the comment on my painting

Love the details in this especially in the bears, water and rocks. Your trees are excellently done as well. Great work!!

A big Thanks to you

Hehe No there are no kodiaks, we was happy to have a little brownbear last year, but the wolves are coming back and the lynx yaaay

I'm sorry for the spelling mistake hihi. But some kind person added a "Kodiak" to the title, so thank you

I like those rocks too. They look almost surreal. It is a great painting.

Re: Kodiak Bears X-Post to Animal and Wildlife Subjects

Vany. just noticed one small area of concern.. the bear's snout. The bear on the rock/my left is showing the Kodiak's snout but the bear in the water/my right is showing more like a Grizzly.

Kodiak

Grizzly

Maybe shorten the snout to bring it in ling with the left bear's snout?
