Talking another Sennelier story

While painting this of Notre Dame and bookseller stalls in Paris
I found a bench to lay out my pastels upon the bench turns out to be a bus stop so every ten minutes or so a group of critics/passengers are disgourged, some frowns, some tres jolie (sp?) when finshed packed up, turned around, and across the boulevard is the Sennelier shop. What luck, a great place, a mecca for pastelists all at my back! White gowned (aloof) clerks, papers materials stacked to the ceiling, really authentic!
We were also treated by the god/muse of pastel to Giverney and the Canson factory (among others) by fate/luck on that trip.

1993 18 x 24", canson, but painted with Rembrandts purchased in Copenhagen on sale (upon returning home found misscalculation in exchange rate on our part). Denmark cost us a lot more than we thought! but had a great time!

Great story AND painting. How very Paris it is.
I was in that spot 2 summers in 2000 but it was before I got back into pastels, so missed all that, and I'm envious. But then we were backpacking and I couldn't carry more than some colored pencils anyway (which I picked up at Galleries Lafayette).
Wendy C&C always welcome

Fabulous activity going on here....there are always so many good things to look at in your paintings Dan! What a grand surprise for you. Your description was perfect, that's exactly how I would have envisioned a Parisian pastels shop! Thanks for sharing the painting and the story.
