Dawn of a Woman....

Not sure about this title any suggestions welcome!

This is from the RIL. Thanks Jocelynsart! And sorry it doesn't actually look like her

About 7"x10" on pastelmat. You won't believe this but I started this "trying" to follow Mike Beeman's method. I didn't do a drawing but started with amorphous dark shapes and then mids then lights. All was going well until my inner self kicked in. Then it got tighter and tighter!!

But I'm proud to have done this without a drawing so it's a start

C&C welcome.

Re: Dawn of a Woman....

Wow this is so beautiful I love the colours, very rich and vibrant. Her stare is soft, yet intense at the same time.

I'm not sure about the title, probably because my little girl is growing up and I don't like to think about it

Hi Ruthie,

This is totally GORGEOUS! The skintone is so alive, the lighting is perfect & BG is a wonderful compliment to both. Hooray for your inner self. Very well done.

This is a lovely portrait Ruthie. Her expression is quite intriguing, sort of shy and direct at the same time. Colors are just beautiful. I've done a few of "jocelynsart" photos, she is a very talented photographer!

You should be thrilled to have done this without a drawing. It's stunning.

Re: Dawn of a Woman....

This is really beautiful! Don't change the title...it's very enigmatic and appropriate for a young woman coming of age!!

Re: Dawn of a Woman....

Wow! Thanks everyone
Mark, maybe I should have introduced this as a self portrait . Actually there is a PGE challenge coming up...self portrait from life in a mirror. I've been practicing but am yet to come up with anything that looks like me. I'm determined to do it though!
