Re: What are you listening to?
olive oyl, it sounds a little like when I saw Iggy Pop about twenty years back. He was opening up for the Pretenders, and that's who we'd gone to see - but we very nearly left after Iggy was through, he was that good. Just unbridled, unashamed, raw energy. As it turned out, we were glad we stayed - the Pretenders were just as good...

Re: What are you listening to?
I'm just a crass and classless cavewoman.
...rambunctious, near-relenteless abandon - the dank, clanging cage of his id, and everything connected to it (sex, evil, lust, fear, violence, his loins...sex)...
trashy, bluesy rock and roll.
Nothing wrong with this. At times it is exactly what I am after... especially after a bit too much of the more esoteric modern classical. Among those I turn to when I'm in such a mood:

Good season for it... I'm hoping to catch the live version on the radio Thanksgiving morning, my wife has never heard it.

Awesome stuff. Saw these guys at the San Diego Street Fair. As soon as the lights went down you could see a huge cloud of smoke come up from the audience...

Fogat
My tastes in music are a tad eclectic. For me, the only bad music, is no music. Of course there are tunes and artists I don't particularly care for, but what are you going to do.
I listen and own a great deal of classical stuff, I am a big fan of the baroque era, and I rarely miss my Saturday's at the Opera on NPR. But my Ipod is very diverse. I have everything from Nick Cave (and the Bad Seeds) to The Murder Junkies, DaVinci's notebook to Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash to Queen, Etta James to B. B. King, Jaci Velasquez to Rod Stewart, and Dean Martin to Frank Sinatra to the Buggles. And so on.

Re: What are you listening to?
Feeling anti-war this morning, so I'm listening to the magnificent Vaughan Williams. Long ago I sang baritone in the choir for this piece; in certain parts I was in danger of getting choked up. Not good when you're trying to sing.
Dona Nobis Pacem - Dirge for Two Veterans
As the global terror wars continue - give us peace.
One of the great anti-war classics. Here's another one, quite different from the last, but just as stunning in its way. I'll post it again in August if I remember. Don't click on the link if you're burdened with delicate tonal sensibilities, or if you think the bombing of Hiroshima should be told as if it were a beautiful event. Penderecki:
