Hi, this pencil drawing was an assignment to use a magazine photo for the drawing. The collar is very black but the flash of the camera made a glare there. Thanks, Kelly

K, Check your photo again--are her eyes really that high in her head? Her individual features are beautiful--you did a great job rendering them--but they don't seem to be in quite the right relationship to each other. In Mystique, someone (Mellryn, maybe) posted a good guideline for locating the features. Tomorrow's Saturday--yea, no work!!! I'll try to find one of my old lessons and post it for you to study. It's a different version of the one in Mystique but the same general idea. Phyl.

Hi again, Kelly, My intention was to send you a diagram for locating features to make your faces more accurate but my notes on that lesson are not where I thought they were. But if you look in the Art School in the WC site, you'll find a very good lesson by Roger Elliot. It's Lesson #3; Drawing Heads, Frontal View; under the Drawing & Painting Life Portraits by Roger Elliot. I'm sure you'll find it helpful. Good luck & keep the work coming!

Henrik , I'm glad that you mentioned that, because that was the first thing I thought of was yours. The eyes do seem a bit strange,to me anyway. Do you get the feeling that maybe this is a male cross dresser, you know those female impersonators??
Perhaps that's why the features are so strong, and NOT feminine at all. Is it just me, or does He/She seem crosseyed. Something definitely seems out of focus or maybe I'm the one going cross eyed.
This is a very interesting drawing, for sure and for certain.

Thank you so much everybody! I wanted this woman to be striking but maybe not that much. I'm working on getting all the elements of faces together They are harder to do than I thought they would be. I am going to do a new post with my first face. It's called cowboy. Thanks again, Kelly
