Xina's fill a sketchbook in October challenge

Yeah! I finally got off the ground with this. My thinking at present in order to do this is to use any spare half hour moments I have so that whatever I do is going to be pretty simple. But I do want it to be useful in terms of learning and progressing, after all thats what the challenge is for so for each sketch I do I'm going to try and have some specific aim so today I started with a pencil sketch to ease myself in and the aim was to study the tonal values. The colour sketch was simply an exercise in using the watercolour pencils.

The scan has reproduced badly but you can get the drift. I won't be posting daily, I'll just post every week with a small selection of sketches done.

Yay Xina! Both sketches are great - I like both equally. You've got great texture on the tonal one and the coloured version is so vibrant with the colours complimenting each other so well. Hope you have a great month and enjoy your creative time

Hi Xina . . . I like that you've first done a value study and then a color version. Very cool. Neat bowl.
