Sketchbook in a Month Challenge: Rainy's Days

Hello . . . this is my FIRST time to post an art journal so I'm a little nervous. I've posted pages here and there in sketch threads but this is real different I think.

Here is a photograph of the sketchbook I chose. Its a Art Alternatives watercolor journal. Its 122 lb. I've not used it before but hope it will be good. . .the paper feels nice and its a good size to carry with me easily and has a hard cover and an elastic like a moleskine. It has 56 pages.

And I'm just calling it Rainy's Days because I plan to use it to capture whatever strikes my interest that day

What a lovely little sketchbook - it looks like it will be so enjoyable to fill with those things that come to your eyes and say draw me.

Rainy - Good for you. I love the title and that way you aren't limiting yourself to what you can include. I'll be watching for your sketches.

Thank you everyone. . . there are beautiful cloud formations today so I think I am going to try and capture some of those when I get home from work. I've not really done skies much before so it will be good practice!

Re: Sketchbook in a Month Challenge: Rainy's Days

Rainy, I have several of those- two of that size and two larger ones and I LOVE them! I completely filled up my first one and have started on my second. I carry one with me in my purse with a pen, a water brush and an altoids pallette and it's perfect. It takes ink and light wash wonderfully. Enjoy it!

Re: Sketchbook in a Month Challenge: Rainy's Days

Hello everyone. . . thanks so much for the welcome!! You are making me feel that I can really DO this journal thing

So last night, day one, I got home a bit late and the trees were backlit against the sky in black and so here is what I did. I used my new tubes of M. Graham gouache, never tired that media before! I bought five tubes a few months ago but just now got around to trying them.

Rainy's Days Journal in a Month - PAGE 1/Oct 1, 2010
M.Graham Gouache - done from life

Today I'm in the mood to paint one of my dogs in this gouache, so that will be what I do for page 2 but probably won't be able to post it until Sunday night
