Lakeshore farm

This was an effort at the pencilsketch but hasn't worked out too well as thesky and the rooftops turned out to be too near each other in value.
The original is below.

Wonderful sketch! Wow... you did a really good job with this one. I like how you removed the car and power lines too. I see your problem with the values. Maybe you can burn the sky near the roof line to distinguish the two, or just draw a fine line there.

Keep posting!

Thanks, Anne.

I will probably do some drawing on top such as fine lines at the rooftops as you suggested.

I do like this technique though where a mediocre photo can be made to look like a very nice drawing.

Elsby, I hope you don't mind, I manipulated your image and I think it would solve your problem with the house, however the roof of the barn I couldn't do anything with.

The original appears to be overexposed and washed out.

BTW, where in mass was this taken and where are you from............formerly of W.Springfield and Westfield.

Ozzie,

I don't mind in the least. As you say the original does seem very washed out and looks so much better now you have adjusted it. I should have probably done that before going into the sketch technique but I was impatient I suppose

I am from Scotland but currently living in MA for a few years. The photo is of a place in New Hampshire where I spent a weekend dancing!

Impatient, naw I don't think so. You took great pains to remove the car and power/phone lines.

It is far easier to look at anothers work, for me anyhow and see what could be better than when I look at my own. Thats whats great about the forums, others will always point out the obvious..........that I can't see.

I think your work would have been fantastic had, as you said, more contrast between the sky and structures. Look forward to seeing more of your work from my old stomping grounds!

Hi Ozzie,

Thank you for the comments and compliment: I have d/l'd your adjusted photo (you don't mind, I assume) and maybe I will have another try using that. I will probably try to do something about the barn roof too.
Don't hold your breath though as I have other WIPs needing attention

Ok...I don't what's happening here. I've tried to view this thread on three different PC's and cannot see ANY of the images.

Are you guys ALL using MACs? This is impossible!

That doesn't make sense to me, Julie. They are simple jpg, a cross-platform format, so it shouldn't make any difference which platforn you use to view or which it was created on.
A mystery!

Hi Elsby.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but both Joy and myself are having the same problems (ie. pictures not loading) with your posts. In fact, once you had posted on the Man With A Plan 2 Thread not only would your picture not load but from that point on pictures that had previously loaded ceased to do so. Joy also attempted to follow you on that thread and although she could go to post reply she could NOT upload pictures.

I can't think for a moment what the cause might be but it does seem to be connected to your postings.

Bobby,

Now you have me very worried but I still don't understand since other people see them and make comments. They also upload pictures after mine e.g. Ozzie uploaded one in this thread.

One thing I can say is that they are all virus free according to my virus checker which is completely up to date.

The only thing that I can think of that differs from previous posts of mine is that I uploaded these while I was in the forum rather than when I entered at the start page and logged in. Can that make a difference? Does one go to the library and one only to the message thread?

I would really like this to be sorted out as it is making me feel very bad about the trouble it is causing you and others, Julie and TeAnne.

Weird. It loads for me in NS, but not IE. I'm stumped.

Elsby, can you do me a favor? Post a test message in this forum (be sure to put a note in it letting people know that its a test, and NOT TO POST there). I want you to post in a thread, by yourself, so I can take a look. Oh, and be sure to attach the same image you did above (actually, you didn't attach it, I think you just used the image uploader, which should be fine).

Cheers.
Scott

Scott,

I have uploaded the 2 pix in "This is a test" as you asked. Yes I did not "attach" the files but used the uploader button in the forum.

Hoping to hear soon and thanks,

Elsby
