Self Portrait

Here's one I just finished. This was completed in about 3 hours over two days lunch breaks.

Thanks for looking. Always good to see you folks here in the Figure forum.

Self Portrait - Sept. 23, 2010
9" x 12", oil on canvas panel

Re: Self Portrait

Very dramatic, Bill!
If you are inclined to look again at the eyes- I wonder if there is such a dark line along the lower lid- perhaps to see the inner lid next to the eye-ball would be lighter?
The looseness of this is great!

Nice -- love the beard; can sense its texture. I agree that the eyes are a bit flat, but perhaps that's intentional.

Thanks for the comments. I have touched up the eyes very slightly, but I think it helped. Thanks for the suggestions. I didn't do much though, wanted to keep the feeling.

This one was really fun to work on.

Re: Self Portrait

I really like the feeling of this one too Bill! It's a strong statement, not 'pretty' but very engaging. Wouldn't change a thing. Thanks for sharing it.

It's just possible you've inspired me to pick up my paints again.

This is brilliant.
