Vivian's Place

Although Vivian is long gone her humble place lives on. I painted this 16x20 oil on canvas from a photo taken in early summer. The light was perfect. What about the sky holes? Too many? Too distracting? Fill them in?
C&C welcomed.

Re: Vivian's Place

1st - great job I love the painting it has a good compositional structure and a nice color palette. I would recommend maybe shading the tree on the right (the one behind the house) using cooler colors to create more depth and place more interest on the focal point. I like the sky holes I think their good - if anything I would add a few more smaller sized ones randomly along the upper portion to depict the horizon (however I havent seen the inspiration soooo whatever you think is more accurate go with).

Hope that helps and great painting! I really like the tree in the front left

Re: Vivian's Place

I think that is a good idea for making the tree a little cooler. Thank you.

Jumping Bean--Vivian's place really looks good! love the tree on the left and the texture you got in the house siding.

Re: Vivian's Place

You could post the photo(s) but seeing it as you first did it I don't think I'd touch it.
Have fun, Dave
