I am new here. My name is Cathy and I am 21 years old. I draw mostly animals and wildlife. My mediums are pencil, color pencil and scratchboard. Here is a sample drawing.

Welcome to WetCanvas, Cathy!

What a lovely dog -- Golden retriever? Very nicely done pencil work!

Your image was a little large to view without scrolling, so I've reduced it. Hope that's okay! Please try to keep postings to a max width or height of 500 pixels and medium jpg resolution. Otherwise the file size is really large and people have to scroll to see it.

Again, welcome to WC and please post some more!

Welcome to Wetcanvas Cathy. I really like how you use the pencil. What was this done on and how?

Nice job Cathy!
Great expression -- so very golden! Do you do any color work? This is really well done.

Question

Thanks for your comments. How do I resize an uploaded image? I realized i was too big after I uploaded it, but didn't know how to alter the size. Does regular html script work on this forum?

Animal, it was done with a regular #2 pencil on lighter weight drawing paper.

Lovely work.

My only suggestion would have been to have applied a lighter value to the background. I take it the tailend of a pickup truck?

At any rate, would have helped the golden stand out a bit more and created some variation in atmospheric depth. The top line of the truck's box seems to run straight in line with the dark lower gum of the dog's jaw
and would compositionally be better if that did not happen.

Nice expressive use of line, and reminds me a bit of Paul Calle's drawings which I have long admired and loved. Also whom I consider a role model for those that love to draw.

Hi Cathy,
I'm really impressed by your realism on the tongue and mouth area. Good job.
