Before & After with Wall Plaster

This is my house, this time. After painting this room 3 times in 5 years (that's right, you read correctly!) I am still not satisfied, as is evidenced by the multiple color testing.

Another wall before:

I used one pass of Golden Rough Regular Texture, troweled on, followed by Golden Rough Irregular Texture. This is what I ended up with:

A little closer up:

And the other AFTER:

I'm going to live with this for a while, honest! lol

Ya sure, you betcha! Can't wait to see what it looks like by Dec.

I wasn't aware that Golden made larger ( bulk) texture mediums. I love the texture. Is it stucco-like or smoother? It looks very soft but adds interest.

Oh, Betsy - it turned out glorious! Only three changes in 5 years? That seems modest. But wow - I'm glad it brought you to THIS!

s.a.

p.s. I seriously the stairwell color.

Re: Before & After with Wall Plaster

Li- It is from Golden's Proceed line, which is fairly new on the market.

What I really liked about this product was that I didn't paint or glaze a thing. It is straight out of the can that color.

S.A. - Thank you! As for the stairwell color, I only had to repaint that 3 times as well! I kept mixing up batches of paint from leftover paints until finally I hit on something that is a keeper, I think. And working bits of that color all through the house now.

Re: Before & After with Wall Plaster

Thanks for the Golden link Betsy. We are gutting our house this month and I'll be practicing some broken color and texture for the new walls. Hope I can do half as well as you!

Re: Before & After with Wall Plaster

Think that stuff would cover paneling, Betsy? The seams and the woodgrain texture?

Had to laugh, because my living room looks like your "before" pictures! Now I know what to do. Thanks! Great job.

Re: Before & After with Wall Plaster

Thanks, Sherry, Pat, Ruth, Michele and Chris.

Michele - I'm pretty sure that it will cover the woodgrain, but not sure if it would be a good fill-in product for the grooves. Probably not.

For anyone's info., esp. Ruth if you actually do this: The 'Regular' is surprisingly transparent, and I didn't know if the 'Irregular' would cover and even out the different paint colors that I had been testing. As long as you put the 'Irregular' on with 100% coverage, it covers all of the color variations fine.

Re: Before & After with Wall Plaster

I like Golden products, tho I've never used this. They've been developing a lot of specialties the past few years. I usually use AdiColor plasters, though - so it's good to know you liked these.
