Being a born Texan.....

Ok, this is another older one. See what Texas can do to a person.
This one is titled "Armadillo Hell" I did it from the perspective of the armadillo after recalling childhood memories of scaring them so they rolled up in balls, and then rolling them around. Kids!

Hi Sassybird

Love this one! I always wanted a pet armadillo when I was a kid LOL The dark bleak background makes it look like this poor guy really does live in armadillo hell! Great piece. Whats the medium here?

That's kinda cute Sassybird. I guess, if cute is the word for it. In any case, I like it. Let's just put it that way.

Sadly, being from Texas myself, I've seen more roadkill armadillos than live ones. A very common sight along Texas roadways (especially first thing in the morning).

My wife and I used to camp pretty frequently and they would wander into camp when the lights were out. Ever notice how Armadillos jump straight up when you startle them? LOL (and I don't mean with a car. If I see a live one in the road, I do my absolute best to safely avoid them).

diane, I used watercolor, acrylic and ink for this one. I had a lot of wild critters I played with when I was growing up. Some of these my mother was horrified by....lol

DrLondon I know what you mean about the road kills. I always cried when I saw one. But, I will tell you this. I had much rather startle an armadillo than a opposum!

Redsy I didn't know it was torture when I played with them that way...lol In all my encounters with animals, both domestic and wild, I have never had one turn on me. I guess they can sense when someone means them harm. Of course I have never come across a badger, and pray I never do

LOL. I know exactly what you mean. We had one fall through my parents ceiling one time. Talk about a startled oppossum. Yuchhh!

LOL. We played with them as a kid in TX too. I just returned from a home trip (TX and ARk) and saw several as roadkill. While camping, something pretty hefty got into our trash. Do they have bears in ARK? Probably raccoons.

Fun painting, Sassy.
