Portrait of a Vampire, more or less
Hello again everyone
This is a sketch of Mr. Robert Pattinson, who I believe is a well-known vampire on both sides of the Atlantic. Unfortunately he wasn't showing his teeth, but he does look pale and interesting.
All comment and criticism welcome, though maybe not from other vampires.
Tom

Captivating eyes in this portrait, Tom! I've not seen these movies, but I certainly recognize him from the commercials I've seen.
If I remember right, his hair is quite dark, especially compared to his skin...maybe some more darks in the hair will lend to the pale skin better?
Great work!

Re: Portrait of a Vampire, more or less
You're improving with the darks, Tom! I would like to see more of a solid tonality to the hair. Right now there is a lot of plain paper showing through which gives it a bit of a see-thru, translucent thing. It has good volume now, but making it more solid will help quite a bit.

Re: Portrait of a Vampire, more or less
Thank you for your comments, Jenna and Ken, especially about the hair... I have to say that hair and I do not get on well together - people seem to have so much of it, and it takes a lot of sketching...
Any road up (as we say in these parts) I have added more texture and it certainly does look more solid and vampiric.
Thanks again for looking !

Errrrr..... sorry about the multiple uploads.... according to my computer, none of them worked at the time. I shall put on my dunce's cap and stand in a corner.

Don't worry, Tom, the website's been having some issues.
Great darks in the hair. Looks much better now. Great job!

Re: Portrait of a Vampire, more or less
Good darks in the hair. I haven't seen this fellow's movies, but he does look vampiric! One thing is interesting about his shading - he looks as if he's used a little blush on his cheeks deliberately, an area that would normally be highlighted is shaded while his cheeks are pale out to the outside in the shadows. It gives an eerie, made-up look that certainly fits a vampire, also a little androgyny when he's got such masculine features.

Excellent Tom - you have the hair thing sorted now. Like the others, I haven't seen the films but have seen the promos. The likeness is very good. I agree with Robert too about the androgynous look. All the actors in those films seem to have that look and you have nailed it well.

Nice drawing Tom,
It looks better with the hair darkened. Have you tried using blending stumps on the skin. I find they give a realistic look. Although maybe this does not apply to a vampire
