Plant Parade: August 2010
Hello all ; I am Lynn and I am hosting the August Challenge.
Work can be in any medium, any size. It is sooooo hot this time of year, so I've decided to ask you to cool us down with ****blue*****. I challenge you to find a blue flower, not purple or lavender, not tanzanite (sorry, can’t think of the artful color reference) – but blue.
Post your art no earlier than Wednesday, 25 August, only in this thread. Earlier posts will be removed by the moderators, so please remember to only post on the August 25th or after.
Use one of my photo references from the RIL or one of your own.
I'm not much of a chatter, so I'll check in some, but probably not as much as most of you. Enjoy painting.
Photos are from the RIL thanks to the following:
Aqapanthus (macdragon)

Cornflower (madmum)

Hepatica (@mD)

?Blue Flower (Lettersalad)

Forget Me Not (gnu)

Lynn, what a wonderful choice.... this will bring out many unique floral paintings. Blue flowers are so spectacular and it is so great that you have posted early in light of the site schedule. Looking forward to seeing all you PP'rs again this month!

Re: Plant Parade - August 2010
I'm so glad all of you seem thrilled with my choice of blue flowers. I really look forward to seeing them. Believe it or not, I've finished mine yesterday already (of course, I've known it was coming).
Eyepaint - if you can make it look blue without using blue, sure, why not? I'm anxiously awaiting to see it that's for sure.

I'm gonna try Lynn, thanks for hosting this month.
Good thing I saved the references on my HD LOL sadly they've now gone missing. I love blue flowers don't have many in my garden soil not acid enough to turn them blue..haha but paint can do anything..LOL
Hugs all round,
Elaine

Re: Plant Parade - August 2010
I like blue, too! I'm gonna give this one a try, Lynn - great idea. I've recently gotten hooked on ATC's in the Miniature Art forum, so I think I'll give pointillism a go!
I'll be glad when all the pix are up and running again...I love looking at the work in Florals/Botanical...it's very inspiring - and the banter is hilarious!

Re: Plant Parade - August 2010
Have been searching my choices of blue flowers. Lynn, there are more that I thought!! Was in a workshop this week and we did whitish-pink flowers and I told him that I needed blue ones. . .he said what Elaine said: "paint can do wonders"!
We are on the new server, but it will take a few days to finish the tweaking!
Everyone, think "BLUE"!!!

Re: Plant Parade - August 2010
....... and why not blue daffodils? ... blue nasturtiums? ....... how do I know that what I see as blue is the same for you eh?
One of my hydrangeas is a very pretty blue - also has green and white in the flower head though!
Our RIL is a mess at the moment, though a quick check of, e.g., the agapanthus page was OK.
We'll just have to be patient and hope they can sort it sooner rather than later.
You all may not know this, but one move to new servers once took 2 weeks - off line!!!!!

Re: Plant Parade - August 2010
Peg, ask away! No question too silly. Since we're undergoing a site migration, the RIL might not be working, but when it is...
Go to that top bar and look for the "Reference Image Library" in the drop down menu under tools or content areas. Those menus aren't working right now, so wait a bit and try that.
Glad you're joining us.
