Re: Project Discussion: Abstract ACEO Exchange
What a beautiful abstract you posted in the reference picture. Being a realist, I have been trying to get my head around abstracts for a while. I'm seriously considering joining this trade as well, even though I am still in the midst of finishing my primaries ATCs (11 done, 9 to go, will not send them until all are finished).

Re: Project Discussion: Abstract ACEO Exchange
Wow, that was a fast approval!! YAY! We're up and running!
Mona, join us! Thank you for the compliment on the abstract, but it's a Kandinsky!! I love him.. he was one of the greats!
I have always been an expressionist/abstract lover and haven't seen anything like this project out there. I'm hoping it fills up quickly, I have so many great ideas and materials!
I am glad you all are here. Spread the word. If it starts filling up fast, I'll add a few more spaces.
See you soon! Rose

Re: Project Discussion: Abstract ACEO Exchange
I've never done much abstract work, so this project should push me out of the box a little!

Re: Project Discussion: Abstract ACEO Exchange
Just throwing this out there... would this be better to include postcard size as well? I know that ACEO size is really hard to do but probably easier with abstracts, but let me know if it would be better to include a larger size, and would you be okay receiving that size? Just curious

Re: Project Discussion: Abstract ACEO Exchange
Hi again everyone.. just a quick note. There appears to be a possible tropical storm developing in the Caribbean. I live in Florida on the east coast, but it's getting really scary in the Gulf. They are talking about evacuations and maybe mass evacuation if the oil spill fumes come on shore, not to mention what a hurricane will do to us! If I'm not online next week due to a hurricane, I fear we will not be back. I have heard rumors of evacuations being planned that will take people away for a long time to other locations, though we are not sure where. I am trying not to even think about it and to be positive, but who knows at this point? The govt and the media are not telling the truth. I know people who live in the area that is being affected and they are scared. Please say a prayer and if a hurricane comes through, we most likely will not be living in our house after next week, either due to hurricanes or damage or long term evacuations. Please pray, I have 2 boys at home and two older children in Florida but not living with me. This is devastating. Hope I'm wrong about a lot of this and the clean up efforts get better. Right now it looks like doomsday here! I'm still reeling from all that has happened in the last week or two. Hugs to all.. Rose

Re: Project Discussion: Abstract ACEO Exchange
I'm ok with either or both sizes. For me, personally, I enjoy the challenge of ACEO size.
Good luck with everything Rose! Uncertainty sucks, as does bad weather!

Re: Project Discussion: Abstract ACEO Exchange
Hi all!
Rose, the situation you're in with the storms and that dreadful oil situation is sad. I hope all will go well for you and your family. My daughter lives in Florida and I worry about her every storm season.
I've never done abstracts conciously (I have doodled) but this exchange will challenge me to "create." I too love the reference picture and have studied a bit about what makes an abstract appealing, does it have meaning and/or focus. Do the colors/techniques/composition tell a story or are they just visually appealing. I'm looking forward to this exchange.
That being said I'm going to state up front that I would not like the project to get much bigger. Making 20 cards takes a lot of my energy, time, supplies and postage (and organization etc...) and even 25 would seem daunting. Maybe a follow up project could accommodate those who either wanted to do more abstracts or wanted to join after the size limit has been reached. I also prefer to make and receive the ACEO size, however I could more easily go with the flow on that one.

Re: Project Discussion: Abstract ACEO Exchange
Autismart the size wouldn't be just the postcard size. It would be your choice of which you do. If you prefer to get only the smaller size, just post that and include that in a note with your address to Rose.
If for some reason Rose can't get back on to finish with everything by the closing date, I will take over for her and get all the addresses out. Hopefully that won't be necessary. But I won't leave you hanging just in case.
