Re: Great Journal Blogs/Sites
One more thing: I'd like to second Katherine's recommendation of the Urban Sketchers site. This is a TREASURE TROVE of inspiration! Go to this page, the Membership Page. It's organized by country. (Which is delightfully handy if you're planning a vacation!) Each member's blog is linked from his or her name. Outstanding stuff.
And I (naturally!) forgot to mention my own page: Travel Sketchbooking. I've left the old pic from 2007 there, but I try to update the text or the lists when I find something new and cool.

Re: Great Journal Blogs/Sites
Hi,
I couldn't help but join in to just let u guys know that there's this guy called mathew on youtube who teaches at the NY animation school I think and he usually takes videos of sketchbooks maintained by his students...most of the sketchbooks are animation based but are an inspiration to people like me. I've provided a link that takes you to his youtube link. He also posts a lot of free tutorials on youtube. Hope you all enjoy looking at some of his students works.. I surely can't seem to get tired to watching the same videos again and again.. Just click on the link and do a search for 'sketchbook' if you wanna see only the sketchbook videos.
Btw. His tutorials are awesome too...Learnt quite a lot from them..

Re: Great Journal Blogs/Sites
Jan thank you for your list. I spent several happy hours going through Ross Stutlers site. Of course I've been hooked on Katherine T's websites and squidoo pages for over a year. Thanks for all the effort you put into those Katherine.
Today I'll check out Jan's travel sketchbook!
No sites to add as this is where I have found most of the cool stuff, or someone has mentioned it already.

Rainy and all.
I found that book in the library, also. I was definitely impressed. I think I renewed it so I had it checked out the maximum time.
So, I would add to the long list of recommendations of Danny Greggory's book, "An Illustrated Life"!

Thanks Margo! Did a count recently - I've now got well over a 100 sites dedicated to very specific aspects of art or artists on Squidoo. Where did they all come from?! I daren't tell you how long the "works in progress" list is!

Re: Great Journal Blogs/Sites
What an inspiring thread this is. Thanks everyone for the links.
I just found this series of videos about using mixed media in your journals. http://www.ustream.tv/channel/journalartista Some great ideas for creative backgrounds. The videos are quite long and sometimes a bit slow, but you can jump them along - You've heard about watching paint dry? Well, you do actually have to watch paint dry, assisted by a heat gun!! I fast forwarded at these points. As a super conservative, not prone to experimenting, I found the site really stimulating. Can't wait to try a few things in my journal. Makes me wish I'd bought a bigger size journal. I'll have to buy another for playing around with mixed media.
Enjoy,
Dale
