Cyber-Snooping (Ross Paterson Wins Something)

Okay then, I was cyber-snooping and a couple of watercolor celebs were discussing who won at Shanghai or wherever that big show is and the name Ross Paterson came up. So I binked him up and maybe I have seen his work before, regardless, I really liked it. Used his colour selection for his classes and was determined to let'er fly. Not so much flying here, maybe next time. I am going to study Ol' Ross and see what I can steal.

blues: F.U.B. Cerulean and Cobalt

brown: brown madder

yellows: aureolin and raw sienna, raw umber, quin gold

reds: rose madder genuine or permanent rose, light red

Gorgeous Ron! Not ever heard of him. I do like the palette. This scene looks like the other one you currently have posted.

Yes, I used the same drawing...I was just exploring and I wanted to get really loose but it just clamped down...I think I got tired. I wanted to do this scene using big juicy strokes and drips and figured it would be easier because I was familiar with the compo. I need to know where I am going to paint quickly and hopefully looser or just hopefully....

Nice palette. I like the way you did the trees here ... airier and less forbidding In fact this is very atmospheric! The colours in the foreground and in the cars really lift ... ZING.

Ron--I sort of like the palette. Definitely shows in the painting. Rather airy not so stark. Lots of movement still, I see, especially in the background trees. And, the foreground is colorful and inviting.

I'll keep watching your experiments.

A nice take on your scene Ron. I love the way you mix colours on the paper.

Hi Ron,
having been several weeks away I am enjoying the great works here. I did miss your cheerful paintings. Due to the "new" palette of yours this one is not as cheerful in the real sense of the word but certainly delightful! I love the palette; this painting gives me the feeling the old house and cars have been standing there for ages without anyone visiting - a lonely yet lovely and tranquile place.
Want to see more in this style!

G'day
Another beauty - good to see a bit more colour and thanks for listing them as well.
Ross Paterson is an Aussie! - an artist friend who knows I like painting cars just sent me a couple of his paintings ..... I'm guessing it must be the same painter
Is it this guy?

cheers

A distinct subject matter and stye. The old building seems like it's leaning back or standing tall. It's a great effect. I really like this.

Ron, I always enjoy opening your threads and this is no exception. I like the new palette, but I have to say I still like your original color selection better. More colorful!
