All are welcome so don't be shy. Looking forward to another week of great art.

Commenting is optional but it is highly appreciated. If you don't have much time to comment then don't worry but please keep on posting your art. New faces are always welcome. Have a great week everyone and looking forward to another week of great art.

Re: Daily Painting 22nd - 28th March 2010

I did do some art this weekend.
All are ATC-size on watercolor paper and using Derwent Inktense pencils.

There is a thread in the Animal and Wildlife board, where you decide the next animal to be posted.

There was a request for an animal with pop-up eyes and I posted this of my baby applesnails sharing a pea:

Another request was for an animal that eats its mate, the Praying Mantice. But this praying frog also leaped on to the paper.

I also jumped into the CP Monthly challenge. This is Rosie with a little friend.

Inspired by the Van Gogh style, I tried to do this crocus from Alain's WDE.

Finally the woodpecker from this weeks WDE.

Have a great week ya'll

Mona what wonderful little paintings, each has such character (I love the snails) these would be great illustrations for a childrens book.
I had a look at the animal thread, what an ineresting challenge and some amazing paintings there

Crowie: beautiful paintings, especially the waterfall!
I will post later some of what I did for the WDE, hopefully I will get more done this week,

Re: Daily Painting 22nd - 28th March 2010

Wow! Mona you have been very busy! Fun, happy and whimsical paintings.

Crowie you are doing so well with your digi paintings! I particularly like the smooth waterfall -- looks very wet!

This is a little post card 4" x 6" watercolor and acrylic inks with nib pen on 140 lb. watercolor paper - it is from the beautiful Kamloops, BC, photo ref from the WDE. I deliberately exaggerated the curves of the hills and added a few more fence posts in the foreground. I loved the wildflowers in the rolling hills in this photo. It took about 1 1/2 hour to do. I will also post it in the WDE by tomorrow as I wanna do more...

Love those rolling hills, Patricia. Beautiful painting. Your online gallery is also impressive.

Crowie, good digi's.

Re: Daily Painting 22nd - 28th March 2010

Mona, all of your paintings are gorgeous. I kept scrolling down and each one was cooler than the last. Beautiful!

Crowie, good digis -- love the waterfall and the woodpecker especially. The sky on the woodpecker is delightful.

AP, your postcard is so lyrical and gorgeous. I think that one is perfect, the line work and the colors go together in such a gentle, cheerful way that the whole scene makes me smile.

Lawrence, love this Picasso knockoff! I think I like it a little more than the original, you're a cool dude! Actually that period was when Picasso did more of the paintings I liked, the original appealed to me. I just prefer representational art, that's what that boils down to.

I finally did the Gouache Challenge today, something I set as one of my March goals. I'd like to do another one though because the theme is Trees and by accident, my background turned out more of a focal point than the trees in the near ground. So I'll probably, hopefully do another.

Very nice composition & color placement, Lawrence. I really like the bright palette you have chosen, Robert - especially the purple mountains.

Re: Daily Painting 22nd - 28th March 2010

These were done in plein air over the weekend in my moleskin notebook. The animals were at a local farm that I love to visit. The motorcycle was at a park.

Re: Daily Painting 22nd - 28th March 2010

mona: what great pieces, love the snails and the crocus

crowie: like i said, there's a whole new world behind the waterfall. maybe that's where mona's fairy came from
love the woodpecker too

patrice: i want to take a walk there!!

lawrence: i like your painting, it feels very emotional

robert: i want to place my chair there and just sit and relax. lovely!

joan: good wde's, but i prefer the motorcycle and sheep, very personal.

looking at this tread made me start on a little drawing yesterday evening. we went to a china exhibition a couple of months ago, and i got inspired by a dragon stitched on a ceremonial robe of the emperror. i've been drawing a few dragons in that style in different colors since then. here's the one from yesterday: 8 by 5 inches, brushmarkers in daler rowneysketchbook
