Photo Library
These photos for our forum artists are not copyright free and are loaned for your use in the following way:

Photos posted are intended for reference material for the creation of original artwork (which may be sold or used in competitions), but the photos may NOT be sold or used in any other way in their original photographic format. Please remember to credit the person loaning the photo when you use it.

Helpful Hints
Brief comments and descriptions by the person loaning the photo are encouraged, however we request that no other comments about the photos be added to keep the thread easy to use and more compact. when you post a photo, please think of searchable keywords. For instance, instead of putting snakes as a descripiton, type up coral snake, or rattle snake etc., This will make it easier to find photos for specific subjects, because WC has a search function for each thread, by typing in a word it will pull up all the posts that match.

If you require a larger file, then you are welcome to use the Wet Canvas Private Message tool which you can find by clicking on the underlined name of the person posting, ask for a larger file to be sent and then if it is available, you can have it emailed to you.

I hope these work. My pets, a reed frog, a bumble bee toad and a Chahoua gecko.

I can contribute a few to this reference library.

Lizards and snakes below are found in the Sonoran desert (Tucson).

Lizard - unidentified species. I have another shot of him showing more close-up detail if anyone needs it.



Lizard - zebra tailed, two different individuals:



Lizard - common side-blotched, two different individuals:




Rattlesnake - western diamondback:
[I have several shots of this snake having his dirt nap; these are the two that best show his coloration and pattern; feel free to PM me if you'd like others, like from the front or rear].



Rattlesnake - Mojave:
Not the best shot, since they don't pose for photos (this is the most venomous snake in North America, and I wasn't going to risk getting closer with only a 55mm zoom lens), but it does show his pattern and coloration that could be used for a reference.


I have 2 photos of a black-tailed rattlesnake as well, but neither show his head, so I didn't include them. I'll be happy to provide the images to anyone who is interested.

Amphibians:

Painted turtle - Mystic, CT:




Toad - unknown species, found in Grand Canyon creeks. They are about 2" in length with the pinkish iridescent skin you see in the photo. I have another photo if anyone needs it as well.
