Making Art with Invisible Glass: Networking & Beyond

Robert Mickelsen
Price: $650 ($700 after April 15)

Robert Mickelsen has exhibited and taught around the world. He has written and lectured extensively on the subject of flameworked glass and has a new book entitled “Dreams and Secrets: The Flameworked Glass Art of Robert Mickelsen.” This class will be devoted to the process of constructing large-scale sculptures using clear glass rod and tubing. By utilizing the technique of networking, students will easily be able to make complex pieces that would be impossible by any other means simply by bending and welding small-diameter rod. Design and engineering concepts will be emphasized in building the frameworks for our pieces. Our goal will be nothing less than to completely re-define the traditional imagery, scale, and visual impact of flameworked glass.
